"The Brave" Shiraz is the pinnacle expression of our efforts. It is extremely limited in production as only the best barrels are selected from the best parcels of our own grapes. The result - a wine which is ideal for drinking now, but will reward careful cellaring.

Dark berries and cherries combine with violets, toasted spice and fine hints of aniseed to create a full bodied wine with a complex palate. Fine and silky tannins pull the flavours into a lingering finish.

Wine Profile
Bronze Medal, International Wine Challenge 2014
Vineyard Notes
A limestone base supports sandy loam soils at the base of the hillside.
Production Notes
During 2012 vintage, seasonal rainfall for Padthaway was lower than average which resulted in no disease pressure, and lower than average yields but produced very good quality wines. Cooler than usual temperatures in March slowed the ripening of the fruit, resulting in a lovely balance of fresh fruit, good natural acidity and ripe tannins.
Winemaker Notes
The wine was fermented on skins for around ten days and pressed before being transferred to barrel for a maturation of 22 months. The wine aged in a mix of 80% French and 20% American oak with 65% new oak in a mixture of both barriques and some hogsheads.
