Vintage 2016: Wrap Up

With vintage all over for 2016, we've all gotten a few good nights sleep and had time to reflect on the season that was... 

Firstly a big thankyou must go out to our incredible team both out in the vineyards and throughout the winemaking process - We couldn't do it without you!  

Our Winemaker Renae has given the following 2016 Vintage Recap:  

"The season began with low winter and spring rainfall and a dry and warm spring, then a very warm December. Despite the dryness, our vines were very healthy with good leaf area. The fruit set was great, and our beautiful vines produced a good number of bunches.

There was relief from the heat in January with some cooler weather; which slowed things down and allowed ripening to happen fairly evenly. As has been the trend in recent years - the vintage started off quite early, beginning in early February.

A few rainfall events in mid February and again in March slowed ripening down and brought some relief to the vines given the dry season.

Our quality across the board is high and yields were also generally a little above the 5 year average.

The whites show lovely freshness, vibrancy of fruit and nice crisp acidities.

Our Reds have really good depth of colour, weight and fresh fruit characters + nice fine tannin structures."

You heard it here first - The 2016 wines are shaping up to be of excellent quality - We're very excited!
